Anti-wrinkle injections works by stopping the signals from the nerves to the muscles. This pause in communication helps the muscles where it's injected to relax, which is great for smoothing out fine lines and wrinkles.

Anti-wrinkle injections can be used proactively to prevent wrinkles from forming, even if you don't have deep lines yet. Many people mistakenly think you have to wait until you already have severe wrinkles to have anti-wrinkle injections. But it can be beneficial to start treatments in your 20s or 30s, especially if you have a very animated facial expressions that lead to wrinkles over time.

Anti-wrinkle works best on dynamic wrinkles (caused by facial movement such as squinting or smiling) where as static wrinkles (wrinkles that appear when resting and not creating a facial expression) won't be as effective.

You should not get anti-wrinkle injections if are/ have:

• Pregnant/ breastfeeding.

• Severe illness/ infection.

• Allergies to any of the ingredients

• Dibetes

• Seizures

• Muscle or nerve disorder

• Bleeding problems

• Asthma or emphysema

• Heart disease
  

Anti-wrinkle treatment is generally safe, but it's important to be aware of potential side effects. Serious long-term or life-threatening complications are very rare. However, some patients may experience minor adverse reactions, usually at the injection site. These can often be prevented by providing your full medical history to your injector. If any side effects do occur, they are typically mild, such as:

• Redness

• Bruising

• Infection

• Pain at the injection site

Although serious side affects are rare, the possibilities include:

• Muscle weakness

• Difficulty swallowing

• Dizziness or nausea

• Headache

• An increased risk of respiratory infections

Treatment around the eyes may cause:

• Drooping

• Swollen eyelids

• Dry eyes

• Reduced blinking

• Sensitivity to light

• Tearing

• Double vision

In rare cases, patients may experience an allergic reaction. If you experience severe dizziness, rash, tongue or throat swelling, you should contact your injector/ doctor immediately.

The desired results will usually be achieved with the first session, but new patients will often need to come for the follow-up appointment at the 2 week mark.

Anti-wrinkle injections usually last 3-4 months. When the product wears off, your wrinkles tend go back to how they were before and are usually softer.

It's normal for some movement to start returning around 6-8 weeks after treatment. This doesn't mean the treatment has worn off early. It's just a natural return of muscle activity, but it takes 3-4 months for the full effects to wear off completely.

You may notice some small bumps around the injection site. These usually go away within a few hours. You may also experience some minor bruising, which is more common around the eye area. The bruises can last up to 2 weeks but can typically be covered with makeup. To ensure the best results, we recommend avoiding makeup for at least 4 hours after your treatment. Please refer to the aftercare instructions for more details on what to expect and how to care for your skin following the procedure.

• Avoid rubbing the treated area(s).

• Avoid lying down for at least 4 hours.

• No strenuous exercise for 24 hours.

• Avoid alcohol for 24 hours.

• Do not use blood thinners.

• Avoid excess facial cleansing (can wash face with gentle face wash in the evening.

• No sun-beds/saunas/steam.

2 WEEKS BEFORE:

- Avoid dental treatments / cleanings 2 weeks before.

1 WEEK BEFORE:

- Recommended to avoid blood thinning medications, such as Aspririn & Ibuprofen as these can increase chances of bruising.

- Avoid sun-beds (and 1 week after).

- If you are getting Lip Filler done, and you suffer from cold sores please ensure your cold sore is not active and start taking anti-viral tablets 2 days before appointment.

48 HORUS BEFORE:

- If you are prone to bruising, you can take Arnica tablets/ creams.

- Do not wax, thread, shave, or pluck on the areas you plan on treating.

- Avoid anti-aging skin care products that contain Retitnol, Glycolic Acid, Retinoid, or other exfoliating ingredients.

24 HOURS BEFORE:

- We recommend avoiding alcohol consumption to prevent bruising.

ON THE DAY:

- It is best to arrive with washed, clean face (no make up), we will clean the area again so don't worry if you're not completely make-up free.

- Please make sure you have had something to eat and drink :)
