FILLER DISSOLVER: HYALURDONIDASE

Dermal fillers, especially those containing hyaluronic acid, can sometimes lead to undesirable aesthetic results or complications. However, the good news is that these HA-based fillers can be reversed or dissolved by injecting the enzyme hyaluronidase into the previously treated area.

While this enzyme occurs naturally in our skin, injecting it at higher concentrations allows for rapid removal of unwanted filler. The hyaluronidase enzyme comes in powder form and is mixed with saline solution before being injected into the area where the filler was previously placed. Upon injection, the enzyme breaks down the molecular bonds holding the hyaluronic acid filler together. This causes the filler to dissolve and disappear within minutes. However, the full effects of the dissolving treatment may not be apparent until 24 hours later, once any initial swelling has subsided.
