DERMAL FILLERS

Dermal fillers are a non-surgical cosmetic treatment where a healthcare provider injects substances under your skin. This plumps up wrinkles, smooths lines, and restores volume in your face.People often get dermal fillers to enhance their facial features or look more youthful. The procedure usually takes less than 30 minutes, and there is minimal recovery time. You'll see the results right away, and they can last for months to years depending on the type of filler and where it's injected. There are different kinds of dermal fillers, and your provider will discuss the best options for you. As with any cosmetic procedure, there are some risks, like infection, bleeding, and bruising.

As we age, our bodies produce less of the proteins that give us a youthful appearance, like elastin and collagen. Dermal fillers work by smoothing out deep wrinkles and lines that appear as a result of this loss of volume. The injectable filler treatment adds volume back to these areas, helping to enhance and "lift" the appearance of the face. This can provide a more refreshed, rejuvenated look.

Patients typically start with a consultation determine if they are a good candidate for dermal fillers. The procedure may involve a series of injections, depending on the individual's needs. Prior to the injections, the targeted areas of the face are numbed with a topical anaesthetic cream. The filler is then carefully injected into the mid - deep layers of the skin.

After the treatment, patients can resume their normal activities, including wearing makeup. However, it's recommended to avoid rubbing or massaging the treated areas for a few days to allow the filler to settle.

  • WHAT RESULTS CAN BE ACHIEVED?
You will see noticeable results quite quickly after the first session. The effects of the treatment will continue to work for up to 12 weeks after the initial session. You can expect to see improvements in your skin quality, tone, and volume over this time period. The level of results may vary from person to person, depending on your age, how often you receive treatments, lifestyle and your body's natural ability to produce collagen and elastin.
  • HOW DOES THIS TREATMENT WORK?
After injection, the polynucleotides in the treatment will gradually absorb into your skin. These polynucleotides will then signal the skin in three key ways: 1. They will stimulate fibroblast cells to promote cell renewal, leading to increased collagen production and hydration. 2. The antioxidants in the treatment will remove free radicals that would typically damage skin cells. 3. This treatment will also signal "repair" to help improve skin issues like scars, skin texture, stretch marks and pigmentation.
  • WHAT CAN IT TREAT AND ITS BENEFITS?
Increases cellular turnover resulting to fresher looking skin Acne scars Around the eyes Scarring Rosacea Fine lines & wrinkles Stretch marks Skin rehydration Sun damaged skin Reduces dark circles & hollowness under eyes Increases collagen and elasticity
  • WHO IS SUITABLE FOR POLYNUCLEOTIDES?
This treatment is suitable for all skin types, tones, and ages. It is particularly recommended for those looking to improve the appearance of the under eye area (for darkness and hollowness), acne scars, pigmentation issues and signs of ageing on the face or neck. Not all clients are suitable for tear trough filler (due to being prone to puffiness or excess skin laxity around the under eyes) and therefore may find polynucleotides are a better alternative to address these issues. You may not be suitable if you are/ have: Allergic to fish or you are vegan Pregnant/ breastfeeding Active skin infections / inflammation History of keloid scaring Autoimmune disorders Medication interactions (affecting blood clotting / immune functions
  • ARE THERE ANY RISKS?
Polynucleotides are extremely safe as it is diluted in water meaning there is no risk of blocking blood vessels. There are also no risk of puffiness or vascular occlusion. Polynucleotides do not promote abnormal cellular activity or increase the risk of cancer. In fact they can stabilise the melanocyte cells, which are responsible for pigmentation, making them effective for treating pigmentation issues. The main potential side effects are related to the injection site, such as slight redness, swelling, or bruising, but these typically subside relatively quickly.
  • HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?
For best results we recommend 3 treatments initially (2 - 4 weeks apart) with a top-up session around every 9 - 12 months to maintain results. Polynucleotides treatments is not a one-time -fixer treatment and requires some patience, with best results seen 2 -3 months following treatment.
  • IS THERE ANY DOWNTIME?
This treatment usually creates tiny bumps straight after and can take 1 - 2 days to go down. You may experience some bruising so it's best to avoid this treatment if you have any upcoming important events. You can resume your normal activities however it is recommended you keep the area clean and avoid extreme exercise, sun-beds, swimming etc until the area is healed (follow aftercare for best results).
  • HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?
After initial course of 3 sessions is done, we recommend maintaining treatment every 6 - 12 months for optimum results. Although you build collagen, you will continue to age therefore maintenance is key.
  • WHERE CAN I HAVE POLYNUCLEOTIDES?
Under eyes for dark circles/ hollowness. Full face Neck Décolleté Scars Hands
  • HOW CAN I PREPARE FOR MY POLYNUCLEOTIDES TREATMENT?
Recommended to cleanse and regularly moisturise to ensure optimal results. Avoid taking blood thinning medications or supplements such as aspirin, ibuprofen, or vitamin E in the days leading up to your appointment as it can increase the risk of bleeding/ bruising. Numbing cream will be applied to targeted areas to help ensure a more comfortable experience. You can take arnica tables and use arnica cream to help minimise bruising.
  • WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HYALURONIC ACID BASE TREATMENTS AND POLYNUCLEOTIDES?
Products composed of hyaluronic acid (HA) is aimed to provided volume and deep hydration. As we get older, our bodies make less hyaluronic acid. This can cause our skin to become drier, duller, and lose volume and elasticity. Skin boosters for example are injectables that contain hyaluronic acid. They are given in a series of treatments to deeply hydrate the skin and restore its natural plumpness. Skin boosters can be used on the face or body and provide a great non-surgical option for skin rejuvenation without a lot of downtime. The results can last 6-12 months before the treatments need to be repeated. Polynucleotides are made up of chains of nucleotides, rather than hyaluronic acid like more familiar injectable treatments such as Profhilo. However, they still effectively stimulate fibroblasts - the cells responsible for collagen production. Polynucleotides activate specific receptors on fibroblasts, leading to the generation of healthy, youthful collagen. This makes them particularly beneficial for more mature skin that has lost volume and elasticity due to decreased collagen. While both polynucleotides and hyaluronic acid-based treatments like Profhilo are highly effective, they may be better suited for different candidates. Polynucleotides tend to be more beneficial for addressing sagging, dehydrated mature skin by regenerating and thickening the tissues. Additionally, the effects of polynucleotide treatments can last up to a year after a series of 3 sessions, longer than the typical 6-12 month duration of hyaluronic acid skin boosters. This makes polynucleotides a great option for those seeking longer-lasting skin rejuvenation results.
  • WHAT IS THE AFTERCARE?
For 24 - 48 hours it is recommended to avoid: Sun exposure Excessive heat Strenuous exercise Alcohol Blood thinning medication You can use a gentle face wash in the evening and it is best to keep injection sites clean. You can wear make up 24 hours post treatment.
