WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT AFTER THE TREATMENT?

For your first skin booster treatment, you'll typically need 2-3 sessions spaced 1-4 weeks apart. The process involves numerous tiny injections into the upper skin layers. We'll use a numbing cream beforehand to minimise discomfort. You may experience some small bumps that resolve within a day or two.

ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS/ RISKS?

Skin boosters are very safe, with lower risks than hyaluronic acid fillers. However, all injectable treatments carry a small chance of bruising, swelling, or infection. Following the aftercare instructions closely can help minimise these minor risks.

The only exceptions are pregnant or breastfeeding women, who cannot receive any injectable treatments due to infection risk.

ARE SKIN BOOSTERS DIFFERENT TO FILLERS & PROFHILO?

Skin boosters differ from fillers as they don't add volume, but rather focus on improving skin quality. They're often used alongside fillers to ensure the skin matches the facial volume. Skin boosters target more superficial skin layers compared to Profhilo, which is better for lifting and tightening. 
Profhilo's bio-remodelling properties effectively combat skin laxity, while Skin boosters provide intensive hydration and nourishment.
The two can be combined for comprehensive skin rejuvenation. Additionally, skin boosters can be used on the forehead, unlike Profhilo.

HOW LONG DO SKIN BOOSTERS LAST?

The results from skin booster treatments typically last 6-9 months. To maintain the benefits, we recommend patients get a single touch-up session every 3-6 months, depending on their individual skin concerns and goals.

HOW PREPARE FOR MY SKIN BOOSTERS APPOINTMENT?

Accepted Answer

2 WEEKS BEFORE:
- Avoid dental treatments / cleanings 2 weeks before.

1 WEEK BEFORE:
- Recommended to avoid blood thinning medications, such as Aspririn & Ibuprofen as these can increase chances of bruising.
- Avoid sun-beds (and 1 week after).
- If you are getting Lip Filler done, and you suffer from cold sores please ensure your cold sore is not active and start taking anti-viral tablets 2 days before appointment.

48 HORUS BEFORE:
- If you are prone to bruising, you can take Arnica tablets/ creams.
- Do not wax, thread, shave, or pluck on the areas you plan on treating.
- Avoid anti-aging skin care products that contain Retitnol, Glycolic Acid, Retinoid, or other exfoliating ingredients.

24 HOURS BEFORE:
- We recommend avoiding alcohol consumption to prevent bruising.

ON THE DAY:
- It is best to arrive with washed, clean face (no make up), we will clean the area again so don't worry if you're not completely make-up free.
- Please make sure you have had something to eat and drink :)
- If you are unwell it is best to reschedule your appointment

WHAT IS THE AFTERCARE?

After a skin booster treatment, it's important to follow these aftercare guidelines:
 • Avoid rubbing, scrubbing, toners, retinols, and acids for 24-48 hours
 • Do not use sunbeds, sunbathe, or expose skin to direct sunlight for 2 weeks
 • Refrain from electrolysis, waxing, and bleaching for 72 hours
 • Steer clear of chlorinated water, hot tubs, and saunas for 2 weeks
 • Drink 1-2 litres of water everyday
 • No further cosmetic treatments for 2 weeks
 • Dental procedures should be done 2 weeks pre or post procedure
 • Microdermibrasion / chemical peels should be done 1-2 weeks pre and post treatment
 • If you have had a vaccination recently, leave 4 weeks post vaccine before treatment

Following these precautions will help ensure optimal healing and results from the procedure.
